Fragmenty opowiadania: Niektórzy, co z zacnego kraju Turenii pochodzili, a widzieli, jak autor gorliwie uganiał się za starożytnościami, dziwnymi przygodami i cudnościami tej błogosławionej okolicy, zapytywali go (wierząc, że o tym na pewno wiedzieć musi), z jakiej przyczyny jedną z ulic miasta Tours Ciepłą zowią, co najwięcej panie zaciekawiło. Odpowiedział im, jako mu bardzo dziwno, że dawni mieszkańcy zapomnieli o wielkiej ilości klasztorów, które przy tej ulicy postawiono; tedy od surowej wstrzemięźliwości mnichów i mniszek tak mury rozgorzały, że kilka niewiast uczciwych, które po tej ulicy zbyt często na odwieczerz chodziły, o stan odmienny pomawiano. Jeżeli wiedzieć chcesz, skąd nazwa ulicy Ciepłej pochodzi, a także jaki był koniec owej mniszki, użyczę ci foliałów, które w archiwach arcybiskupstwa znalazłem, pochodzą one z biblioteki bardzo naruszonej w tych czasach, kiedy nie wiedziałem wieczorem, azali mi do rana głowy z karku nie zdejmą. Dać-że ci tę sprawę do ręki? – Owszem – odpowiedział autor. Tedy ów godny zbieracz prawdy użyczył autorowi kupę starych, zżółkłych i poobdzieranych pergaminów, z których nie bez trudu, na francuską mowę przełożył akty dawnego sądu duchownego...

By him it was replied, that he was much astonished to see that the ancient inhabitants had forgotten the great number of convents situated in this street, where the severe continence of the monks and nuns might have caused the walls to be made so hot that some woman of position should increase in size from walking too slowly along them to vespers.
